OUR STORY

About Hattie & Rose

Every bag we make starts the same way: a pair of hands, a spool of thread, and the belief that the things we carry every day deserve to be made with care rather than stamped out by a machine.

After twenty-two years at the sewing table, it is time to slow down.

Rose's mother taught us to quilt at her kitchen table, and we have spent the years since passing that little craft on through these bags. Now we are winding down. We would rather send the last of them to homes that will use them than leave them folded on a shelf. That is why everything is 60% off and the shipping is on us. Thank you for being part of the last chapter.

What they say once it arrives

From women who carry one of ours every day.

  • Nadine Q. with her Nadine | Golden Dragonfly Tote

    Nadine Q., New Mexico

The dragonfly caught the light in the photograph and it does the same in real life. Sturdy handles, generous size, and lovely to carry.

  • Genevieve H. with her Florence | Artisanal Bag - Black Cat on Books Tote

    Genevieve H., Connecticut

A black cat curled on a stack of books is exactly my kind of thing, and the quilting gives it a lovely soft weight in the hand.

  • Opal J. with her Eleanor | Artisan Bag - Dragon Reader with Books and Mugs Tote

    Opal J., Arkansas

The dragon on mine is remarkable up close, all raised stitching and shading. I did not expect that level of detail at this price.

  • Corinne B. with her Harriet | Artisan Bag - Sunflowers and Blue Butterflies Tote

    Corinne B., Utah

The sunflowers and butterflies are so cheerful that I get stopped about it constantly. It is well made, holds plenty, and washes up nicely.

  • Estelle Y. with her Imogen | Artisanal Hummingbirds and Orchids Tote

    Estelle Y., Wisconsin

The hummingbirds and orchids are lovely, and the shape holds up beautifully whether it is full or nearly empty.

Send it back within 30 days and we refund it in full. No photographs, no forms, and we will not ask you to justify yourself.

Every size is listed in inches on the product page. As a rule: the short tote carries a book and a day's shopping, the high tote swallows a laptop, and the duffle takes a long weekend.

Yes. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle and let it dry flat. The lining wipes clean with a damp cloth, which handles most spills on its own.

Usually not. Prints are made in small runs, so when one is gone it tends to be gone for good.
